Dear Pierre,

Welcome to Wikipedia. I am sorry that the first thing you wrote was immediately nominated for deletion, but we take the task of writing an encyclopaedia seriously and a necessary though ugly part is to weed out articles that are not fit. However, I'm sure that statistical literacy is a subject that has attracted quite some research so it should be possible to write a proper article about it. It would be very helpful if you could find some references (e.g. newspaper articles or columns) that statistical illiteracy is indeed a problem.

If you have any questions about Wikipedia at all (and everybody has them, because Wikipedia is a complicated place), please feel free to ask me on User talk:Jitse Niesen. I hope that you can continue improving the article and that you enjoy doing so.

À bientôt.

A month ago, I recommended this article for deletion. I just wanted to compliment you on the excellent work you've done on it- it's come such a long way! You've developed the idea, verified sources, and created a valuable addition to Wikipedia. I'm glad you stuck around and made this article work. -FisherQueen 19:48, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have performed a web search with the contents of Thomas Timusk, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ciar.ca/web/old/prmem.nsf/3a2571b1335913dd8525693500653c1f/d691d99d0bb129688525695a00649984!OpenDocument. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page.
