Information icon Hello, I'm KittenKlub. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. I assume you are referring to city pages with links to historical photos of the city. These are for cities that are known for their history. I want to share historical photos of the city for people to see what it looked like 100 years ago and some of the locations in the photos were bombed in one of the World Wars. They would be valuable for anyone interested in the history of the city. I would like to post some of them in the article, but there are too many to include. I believe this fits your following guideline: "Some acceptable external links include those that contain further research that is accurate and on-topic, information that could not be added to the article for reasons such as copyright or amount of detail, or other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article for reasons unrelated to its accuracy." Adding a dozen links to your own site is considering spamming. If you are willing to give up the copyright, you can upload the pictures and add them to page where applicable. "Some high-value external links are welcome" Take "Bruges: there are tons of pictures on the page already and many more in commons, and therefore the threshold is extremely high. Notice that only the official site is on Bruges page.
There are exceptions. I've added to an external link to Acarouany once. We have no pictures of that village, I am not Raoul Kieffer. The village is extremely remote, most inhabitants are illegal squatters, and it is leper colony with a monument status.
I would also advice you not to persist, because external links are often deleted and abuse of external links can lead to banning and blacklisting of the site.KittenKlub (talk) 06:28, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for taking the time to explain. I understand. RichardRockwell (talk) 12:26, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
