Talk to me here, if you want to comment on any of my changes to ECB Premier League cricket pages. Rochester Valiant (talk) 01:25, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As someome who had to rapidly reorganise a season that year I would like to point out that league cricket was played in 2020, even if the divisions were new ones and created on an ad-hoc basis with no promotion and relegation. Pauloasf (talk) 14:08, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it was, but in most cases the competitions were semi-official. No promotion and relegation, no panel umpires in most cases, and the winners weren't regarded as official champions. The two exceptions that I know of are Middlesex and North Yorkshire South Durham. Those leagues have made it clear that they were official competitions, and NYSD even had promotion and relegation.
In some cases even the league handbooks don't mention these 2020 competitions, and some of them were played less than seriously. One of them was won by a 2nd XI, which tends to suggest that some of the clubs weren't trying very hard. Wikipedia needs to be consistent in how it covers the ECB Premier Leagues, so it's probably best to leave them out, with the two exceptions.
Your point is a fair one all the same, and I'll give the matter some more thought over the close season. Rochester Valiant (talk) 21:50, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
