Foreign relations of Colombia[edit]

Hi, I reverted some of the changes you made to the Foreign relations of Colombia article. The part you deleted " In addition to the challenge posed to the United States by Colombian drug trafficking, illegal Colombian immigrants in the United States are an issue in U.S.-Colombian relations. An estimated one million illegal Colombian immigrants were in the United States by 1999. In early 2003, Colombia ranked among the top seven countries in the world exporting illegal aliens to the United States." although maybe not accurate, it is not necessarily a lie, and we need sources indicating if it is true, or if it isn't or how different it is. The innate difficulties of counting "illegal" Colombian immigrants, myself technically being one of them, make it almost impossible to accurately represent the situation, however estimates exist. The rest of the information you added stayed as that is properly sourced. mijotoba (talk) 14:08, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are giving me a link to DANE? How would they know how many Colombians live in the US? I wasn't aware they conducted censuses here in the US as well, because I certainly have not received a form in the last 15 years that I have been here. Also, the information that you deleted was talking about "illegal Colombian immigrants" which leaves the option of "legal Colombian immigrants" for example, Canadians come to the US all the time, they are not counted as illegal migrants because their migration is legal, so you are still not proving anything. I know you are avoiding doing the correct research and instead throw a a website at me, so just to prove how pointless it is:
Colombians who migrate mainly are not people with studies, the majority of Colombians are illegal aliens in the United States.
You can investigate the information. http://www.census.gov/
Now let me show you how to properly research and source a controversial statement:
After decades of armed conflict, roughly one of every 10 Colombians now lives abroad.[1] For example, Colombians emigrating to Spain have "grown exponentially, from a little over 7,000 in 1993 to more than 80,000 in 2002 and 244,000 in 2003."[2] Also, figures from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security indicate that Colombia is the fourth-leading source country of illegal immigration to the United States. According to its estimates, the number of illegal Colombian residents in the United States almost tripled from 51,000 in 1990 to 141,000 in 2000.[3] According to the US Census Bureau, the number of authorized Colombian immigrants in the United States in 2006 was 801,363.[4]

Maybe next time instead of just wantonly deleting unsourced disputable information, you can take the time to do some research and change the information and add appropriate resources, or if you are not feeling up to it, you can also use the Template:Citation needed or Template:According to whom to show the problems in the statement. Be bold, not reckless.mijotoba (talk) 22:59, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Colombia[edit]

Sure thing, I'll get on it. Anything in particular that you are trying to accomplish, or any specific part that you want to source? Also let's talk on your page so we can keep the conversation in one place, I will watch your page to see if you answer. If you have any question or encounter any problems let me know. mijotoba (talk) 03:21, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well I couldn't find any lack of sources on the Colombia article. There are no templates requesting further sourcing, not any controversial templates that may need backing. The only two things I noticed were the Colombia#Visual Arts and Colombia#Music sections that need basic copyediting as it seems someone translated it incorrectly from the Spanish article, however I think the Visual Arts section in the Spanish article is bad and says nothing about "Colombian Art" and just throws names around, most of which are just redlinks here in the English Wikipedia so it doesn't work. I'm going to ask a cousin of mine who is an Art historian to see if he can muster a quick section about Colombian visual arts and then I can incorporate it. The music part I may model on what his take on the visual arts is, otherwise I couldn't find any obvious problems with the page. Let me know if you are trying to do something in particular. mijotoba (talk) 01:34, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
