VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:30, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

reverting technique

When reverting to a prior article version because of vandalism, it's usually not a good idea to revert to a version that was made by an anon user, at least, not without checking that prior version for vandalism also. [2]. -- Stbalbach 21:45, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

OK, I made a mistake that time, am I allowed to make those? ;) Tim1988 08:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Uploading my image

I can't seem to make it smaller so that I can start a Ralphs Bay page or edit the Lauderdale page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dalessan (talkcontribs) .

Recent changes

Hi Tim

I didn't remove legitimate content. The entry for Tupac Shakur was illegitmate because a) No other person had their birthday listed in the Events section; and b) Shakur's birthday was already mentioned under the Birthdates section

Kind regards. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.204.60.220 (talkcontribs) .

This refers to this [3] edit the anon made. I reverted because an entry regarding Vietnam soldiers was inexplicably removed. --Tim1988 17:35, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
Tim, the reference is not a valid one. All wikipedia content must be verifiable, and the entry refers to 'two U.S. Army officers' killed in Vietnam. There is nothing of historical significance regarding this, and as the soldiers are unnamed, the content is not verifiable. If they were famous soliders, or at the very least, named, then the content would be valid. Otherwise, this reference is pointless, and should be deleted.
