Vipera orlovi is a species of venomous snake in the family Viperidae.[2] The species is endemic to Russia.
Taxonomy
[edit]V. orlovi was described as a species new to science by Boris S. Tuniyev and Sergei V. Ostrovskikh in 2001.[2]
Etymology
[edit]The specific name, orlovi, is in honor of Russian herpetologist Nikolai Lusteranovich Orlov (born 1952).[3]
Geographic range
[edit]V. orlovi is found in the Caucasus area of Russia.[2]
Habitat
[edit]The preferred habitats of V. orlovi are forest, grassland, and shrubland at altitudes of 200–950 m (660–3,120 ft).[1]
Reproduction
[edit]V. orlovi is viviparous.[2]
