Wayne Selden, Jr. (born September 30, 1994) is an American college basketball player who recently completed his college career at the University of Kansas. He was one of the top college basketball recruits in 2013. Selden, after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft, was signed by the Memphis Grizzlies organization. Selden will play alongside fellow Kansas alumni Mario Chalmers.
Early life
Selden was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts to Lavette Pitts and Wayne Selden, Sr.. He also has a brother and sister, Anthony Selden and Taylor Guarino-Selden.[1] He was a McDonald's All-American.
College career
Selden went to Kansas, where he played with fellow McDonald's All-Americans Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid. He also received offers from Kentucky, Syracuse, and UCLA among others. He played in 35 games during his freshman year. In Selden's debut against UL Monroe at Allen Field House, he scored eight points. Selden scored his career high at Allen Fieldhouse January, 30, 2016 with 33 points against Kentucky, winning 90-84 in overtime.
In 2016, Selden was named to the 35-man midseason watchlist for the Naismith Trophy on February 11.[2]
At the conclusion of his junior season, Selden announced his intention to forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2016 NBA Draft.[3]

International career
Selden competed for the United States in the 2015 World University Games.[4] He averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in leading Team USA to an 8-0 record and 84-77 victory over Germany in the gold medal game.[5]
