We held the third Bay Area WikiSalon on June 29, 2016. After some snacks and informal conversation, we had a presentation and an activity:

Program[edit]

Christina Moretta and Andrea Davis of the SFPL
  • Report on Pride edit-a-thon at San Francisco Public Library, by editor Merrilee Proffitt:
What topics might we cover in a follow up?
Andrea Davis and Christina Moretta of the SFPL introduced a number of free online research resources you can access through SFPL (or other libraries) to help with Wikipedia editing (hint, it’s more than just books!)
YouTube video archive of presentation (video cuts out at 18:46 for a couple of minutes)
Ben Creasy and Eugene Eric Kim kicked off the Wikidojo
  • Wikidojo: We started a Wikipedia article on the Ghost Town Royals, a children's baseball program in Oakland.
Are you curious how your peers approach writing a Wikipedia article? This exercise, pioneered by Wikipedians Nikola Kalchev and Vassia Atanassova in 2015 and conducted in many places around the world, helps us all—from first-time wiki users to veteran Wikipedians—share ideas, while building an article together.
