A photo with legible text is needed for the Vindolanda tablets. (Room 49: Roman Britain) ᛭ LokiClock (talk) 05:17, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Done Added File:Roman writing tablet 02.jpg to the article. (talk) 12:40, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Very nice! Thank you. ᛭ LokiClock (talk) 18:13, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

 Done

A photo with legible text is needed for the Stowe manuscripts. Such photos are available from the British Library website, but are under copyright. I hoped there might be some in archive. ᛭ LokiClock (talk) 05:17, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I can find two suitable images -

You'll have to double check these are actually from the right sources as the image information is not clear cut. — (talk) 12:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

I could not find anything off the British Library's website for the William II detail, and that's the only place I know to look. Would you consider this page to be suitable confirmation for the first one? ᛭ LokiClock (talk) 18:33, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I think the text title match is fair, I doubt that anyone would challenge this as being a relevant image to include and we should take the original image poster on good faith. (talk) 18:50, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Then I shall use them, and try and contact the author about pinpointing the specific MS used. Thanks for your help. ᛭ LokiClock (talk) 21:59, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Ship's chronometer from HMS Beagle — object 91, room 39

HMS Beagle's Marine Chronometer

 Done

The current image is of a similar chronometer rather than the actual artefact. An image of the real thing would be useful for the veracity of the page. Location: Room 39, Identification: CAI.1957 and/or L210 and Registration: 1958,1006.1957. (talk) 12:11, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Done. Some reflection on the clock face, but I think it should be OK. BabelStone (talk) 00:25, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Used, thanks! Much better than a photo of one that is "similar". (talk) 00:34, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Statue of Tara — object 54, room 33

Statue of Tara

 Done

This was one of the 100 Objects, located in Room 33 of the British Museum. See 1830,0612.4 . Based on the radio programme there may be mileage in an article about the statue and its history in addition to the general Tara (Buddhism) and the current redirect. (talk) 10:20, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Took a photo before the BM/Wikipedia workshop. (talk) 21:57, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Added another one from the front, but lack of contrast with the background. BabelStone (talk) 00:56, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Hoa Hakananai'a — object 70, room 24

Hoa Hakananai'a's back

 Done

The article on Hoa Hakananai'a refers to the carvings on his back, but only includes a frontal shot. rear photos and especially closeups of the symbols carved into the back and buttocks would be much appreciated. Until we had DNA evidence, the similarity between the tattoos recorded by Katherine Routledge in 1914/15 in the leper colony on Rapa Nui and the carvings on the backs of the statues was a major part of the evidence for cultural continuity between the statue carvers and the Polynesians living on the islands when Europeans first visited them. As this is one of the few Basalt statues its carvings have not been eroded away as most of the exposed statues have been, and it would be difficult to get such photos of the partially buried statues without repeating her excavations. ϢereSpielChequers 11:08, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

I even managed to take this shot on the way to the Great Court this morning. Slight contrast adjustment to make the carvings stand out. (talk) 22:25, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Hedwig glass — object 57, room 34

The new page on Hedwig glass, which is up to be on DYK, could really do with a photo - is there any chance anyone in London could nip into the BM a take a pic of the one on display there? (Room 34, Islamic World, ME OA 1959.4-14.1). Chasuble (talk) 14:29, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Done - see commons:Category:Hedwig glass. Mike Peel (talk) 20:34, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Belated thanks, Mike. Chasuble (talk) 18:38, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Hornedjitef room 62, 63

Inner coffin of Hornedjitef

could use some photos too for his various bits and bobs. Room 62-63: Egyptian mummies EA 6677 outer coffin; inner coffin/mummy (can't see an acc no); EA 6679 mummy mask. Thanks Chasuble (talk) 16:05, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Lighting, colour/size of objects and glass reflection made it very difficult to get any usable pics. This is the only one that was any good. BabelStone (talk) 00:45, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Lovely. I've added it to the article, thanks. Chasuble (talk) 09:24, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Lothair Crystal — object 53, room 41

Lothair Crystal

 Done

On display in Room 41. Witty Lama 22:46, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

I managed to get a shot before the BM/Wikipedia tour started. (talk) 22:13, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Lalita, Room 33

Old Lalita

New image

Lalita (Parvati) with Ganesha and Skanda - Eastern India. 11th century. taken at the British Museum - Asian Gallery (33, 33a Room), to be used as a replacement for the adjacent image which is blurred. --Redtigerxyz Talk 07:59, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Done. I probably should have uploaded this as a new version of the blurred image, I'll leave that to the judgement of the original uploader. — (talk) 22:10, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:29, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Done This - room 40, in a case by itself on the central axis of the room, near the room 36/stairway end I think. Ideally as many as possible, very close up, of the enamel scenes. Sizeable article in preparation, that can use as many as possible. Thanks! By the way, this room currently appears to have no photos at all on Commons, so anything else would be welcome. Johnbod (talk) 16:42, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

It seems I took a couple of pictures of this when I popped into the BM to get some other photos on Sunday, just because it looked interesting. Unfortunately I hadn't noticed this page before I set off or I would have taken more time getting the detailed photos you requested. File:Royal Gold Cup with flash.JPG File:Royal Gold Cup without flash.JPG JMiall 18:31, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Fantastic! That's a great overall view. It looks nice & sparkly! Johnbod (talk) 20:53, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Article now in mainspace, but detail photos still requested. Johnbod (talk) 00:01, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Now added File:Royal Gold Cup lid.jpg for further detail. (talk) 20:41, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Great, thanks! Other views still requested - the article is now at FAC. Johnbod (talk) 22:47, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
A couple of detail images have been added to Commons:Category:Room 40, British Museum these are based on a different front photo I took yesterday to the existing one. Not great quality due to cropping required but may be helpful until better shots appear. (talk) 11:46, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, they've gone in! Johnbod (talk) 14:41, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Added one more from another side, which shows the scene of Agnes appearing in a vision. The bright doorway in the background is distracting, but I will try to dullify that tomorrow. BabelStone (talk) 00:15, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I'm amazed at the fantastic response here. I've put that one in the lead, at least for now - I'm torn, which is great as when I wrote most of the article I had no images at all! What would also be really cool would be to do a version showing the original shape by just editing out the two added bands on the stem. The background would actually work in favour of this as the jump would not be obvious. Johnbod (talk) 00:55, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Glad you liked it -- I took eleven shots from different sides, and that was the only one that was good enough to upload! (that was about par for the course for me on that day). However, if I crop one with distracting background I can get you a better replacement for the first scene underneath the bowl, in which Agnes is buried. BabelStone (talk) 01:28, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Great - I can see it is a bugger to photo, with all the reflections etc. The BM has 18 photos, without actually showing all scenes very well, & I'd eventually like to have enough for a line or two of gallery at the iconography section, & maybe more elsewhere. Johnbod (talk) 02:09, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Is this one any good? BabelStone (talk) 22:20, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, thanks, it's gone in. There was one of the scene, but this has a better angle. Johnbod (talk) 00:18, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Nabonidus, room 55

2010 photo

2007 photo

The "Stela of Nabonidus"[1] ME 90837 (1825.5-3.99) on display in room 55. Also useful for the article Cyrus Cylinder. Witty Lama 23:47, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Because of reflection from the glass I could only take a close-up of the top of the stela, showing the king's head and astronomical symbols -- hope it's some use. BabelStone (talk) 01:19, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Done - I took the liberty of uploading a new version showing more of the stela. The old image is still shown in the history if you prefer to split it out. Also noticed this much older image already on Commons... doh! (talk) 22:50, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
