From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page is a neutral middle ground where mediation of the discussion over fair use images in Pokémon episode articles can be fairly discussed, with progress tracked at one page. This dispute will be mediated by editors out with the discussion, but all participants can help mediate by staying calm and open minded. Highway Daytrippers 21:25, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Discussion

Please keep discussion of resolution and related policy referral in the below section here

I'll start it simply. Fair use images are fine in articles about individual subjects but it is unnecessary and redundant to include them in articles about lists of subjects. Fair use images should be used as sparingly as possible. —Wknight94 (talk) 21:13, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Fair use images should be limited as much as possible per Wikipedia:Fair use criteria number 8. When on Pokémon episode pages, the numbers exceed 80 episodes to a season, and these go beyond any fair use rationale and are a direct violation of FUC #8. Ryūlóng 21:17, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Also, once the limit is reached, some people may wonder why their favorite episode doesn't get an image and another one does; so, using images may cause future disputes. The Hybrid 22:17, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
And it clogs up the page, making it slower for dial-up readers, sadly. Shin'ou's TTV (Futaba|Masago|Kotobuki) 00:49, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, there isn't a limit, just a principle: never use many when you can use one, never use one when you can use none. I think one might be useful (the title card from the intro for each season, since we're using the title card names for the seasons), but key episodes are just as bad as images for each episode (plus we'd be forever arguing about what's a key ep). - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 05:01, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I believe that there should be one or twon episode npictures on the articles, simply because it is more aesetically(sp) pleasing.--Ac1983fan(yell at me) 12:01, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Aesthetically. And WP:FUC specifically prohibits using fair-use images as decoration. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 12:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Shin'ou's TTV's Objection

Why do they need to have their images kept? Good summaries get the point across just fine, and there will be many debates about what constitutes a pivotal episode if we use images for them. The Hybrid 04:35, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Resolutions

Proposed solutions can be suggested here and expanded on by all parties
We don't use any images in Pokémon Episode Lists. The Hybrid 01:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. With no objections we'll consider this "settled". — Mets501  (talk 02:47, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, one image of the title from the intro sequence would probably be fine. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 04:59, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
That's true, if no objects... The Hybrid 07:23, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm with A Man In Black on this one. --WikiSlasher 11:22, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I object. Certain episodes (pivotal ones like the first episode and certain other region changes) need to have their images kept. Some are used on many other pages... From there, it's OK to me. Shin'ou's TTV (Futaba|Masago|Kotobuki) 04:10, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
But the other pages don't need them, either. I really can't think of a situation where a picture is needed to describe anything about the anime... -Amarkov babble 04:49, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Lets put all future comments on this in the discussion section. The Hybrid 15:15, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
