Wikipedia:School and university projects/ESIT translation project - French to English (First semester 2011-12)

As I said in this email to Foundation-l, I'm a first-year master's degree student who was asked to coordinate a small French-to-English translation project for myself and the other students in my class.

My professor has thought of translating on Wikipedia before, but didn't know who to contact until I was accepted by the ESIT (Ecole Supérieure d'Interprètes et de Traducteurs) here in Paris. I used to be an admin/arbitrator over at fr:wp, so I know the ins and outs of Wikipedia, but my classmates do not.

There are only five or six students in all, who will be allowed to choose their own articles (as yet undetermined, as the project will not start for at least a week or so - they will, of course, be articles from fr: needing improvement or creation on en:). I will introduce them to wiki syntax, neutrality, etc. (the five pillars, basically), but won't have much time to field all their questions as the workload can be quite heavy at ESIT. 98% of the work will be done at home (the bulk of it being the actual translation, of course).

All I really ask for here is at least a couple of volunteers per student (one-on-one would be even better, of course), to follow their progress and answer any questions they may have, either on the students' talkpages or the volunteers'. These questions may range from simple ones about wiki markup and how to insert references, to what is and is not free content.
