The Newsletter was founded by Wikipedia editor LB22 and created alongside Diniz (now Midgrid) in February 2008. The first recipient to sign up was Chubbennaitor, who soon joined the contribution team. LB22, after the second issue, retired from Wikipedia leaving the Newsletter in their hands, but they were joined by other editors, including Cdhaptomos and Cs-wolves. Prior to the July 2008, the newsletter was revamped in order to focus more on the project itself instead of the subject of the project.

By the Newsletter's First Anniversary it had started to mature and had become increasingly low-maintenance.
