Chunk 1: Uploading

Once you've finished creating and testing your screencast, the next step is to upload it to Wikimedia Commons. Uploading and embedding your video
Go to http://commons.wikimedia.org/ and log in or create an account if you don't already have one. On the left side of the page, click the "Upload file" button. Commons main page, with circle around upload button
Click the option "It is entirely my own work." Upload page, with circle around "own work" option
Select the file on your computer and fill out the appropriate information in the fields below. File selection window
If other users helped make the screencast, be sure to add their names to the "authors" field. Circle around authors field, multiple names in there.
If your work was based on another Commons file, be sure to put the original file name in the "Original source" field. Circle around source field, file name in there.
If you're not sure which license you should use, you can simply use the recommended license or the Public Domain option. Cursor hovering over recommended option.
Once you're satisfied, press the Upload File button at the bottom of the screen. If you don't get everything right the first time or you aren't sure what to put for some of the fields, don't worry. You can always edit the file page later. Close-up of upload button.

Chunk 2: Embedding your video

Now that your video has been uploaded, you can add it to existing pages. Image of Wikipedia page with embedded video.
Adding a video is very similar to adding an image. If you're familiar with adding images, you can use much of the same formatting to add a video. "this is a picture" "this is a video" image (I'll know what this means)
If you're not sure how to add an image, simply copy the name of the file from the Commons page... Highlighted file name
...then when editing any page, paste the file name between two pairs of brackets, just like a wikilink. Close-up of editing window
There are several different options for how to display your video, such as captions, size, and location on the screen. Close-up of editing window with multiple video options

For some new options that are specific to videos, such as specifying a thumbnail frame, go to Wikipedia:Creation and usage of media files and scroll down to the "Video usage" section. The aforementioned section
As with any edit, be sure to preview your work using the "show preview" button. Preview screen
Once you're satisfied with the result, add a descriptive edit summary and save the page. Edit summary/submit button
If everything worked, the page should now display your screencast. Same article with video as before.
