Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones/Article notability guidelines

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a WP:WPTC guideline under construction. Members are encouraged to help out. All discussion and proposals must be done in the talk page.

  1. An article must have sources that originated outside of forecasting centers, such as the National Hurricane Center or Hurricane Research Division
  2. For storms that impact land, there must be some form of damage, and not just meteorological stats (such as rainfall or winds recorded)
  3. A very notable (non-trivial) record must have been broken if no impact occurs.
  4. For storms that impact land, there must be enough impact to differentiate the storm from other storms that occur (e.g. US$ 50 Million, 20 deaths, etc.)
  5. There should be significant media attention for a storm (e.g. many sources)
