First National Bank[edit]

I went through the lists and put all of the First National Banks and First National Bank Buildings and assorted variations on the First National Bank disambig page. I have yet to change the blue links that go to that disambig page, so if you're respective state of interest has a First National Bank on the Historic Register make sure you click thru even if its blue, cause it probably just goes to the disambig page. Disambiguation script[edit]

I've been looking at the ambiguous links in each state's "List of Registered Historic Places" list to see if there's an easy way to fix some of the links that go to disambiguation pages or non-specific articles. I've put together a Perl script that downloads a given state's "List of Registered Historic Places in x" list, then goes through a list of ambiguous names (like First Baptist Church, U.S. Post Office, Federal Building, and so on) and replaces each ambiguous name with a disambiguated name based on the city/state listed above. For example, if a list starts out as:

This script only does a search for full article titles that are one of the ambiguous names. For example, it won't change Pocatello Federal Building to Pocatello Federal Building (Pocatello, Idaho).

I ran this script on List of Registered Historic Places in North Carolina (with this edit) and I think the results are satisfactory. (By the way, this isn't a bot or a request to create one -- I'm just pasting the text into an edit window, and reviewing all changes before submitting.)

Any thoughts? I want to get some opinions before going ahead. So far, I think this will work for anything where we're using the standard of disambiguating with (city, state) after the name. I'm thinking of just using the state name for courthouse entries (such as Washington County Courthouse (Minnesota) versus Washington County Courthouse (Stillwater, Minnesota), since the county "belongs" to the state, not the city).
