William Lanteau (November 12, 1922 - November 3, 1993) was an American character actor. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. His first television appearance was in 1954 in an episode of Goodyear Playhouse. He later appeared in over eighty different television shows, among them The Donna Reed Show, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Here's Lucy, No Soap, Radio, Newhart and Amen. He also appeared in the movies Cold Steel, On Golden Pond, Hotel, Sex and the Single Girl, The Honeymoon Machine and Lil' Abner.
