Large cruise ships[edit]

The article contains the following statement: "Occasionally, very large cruise vessels have visited Antarctica carrying over 950 people. These vessels are usually cruise based and offer no landings. However, in 2009, new regulations were enforced that stopped large vessels from operating in Antarctic waters due to their heavier fuel oils."

This is either not true or, at best, very dated information. Simply Googling the major cruise lines shows that there are many large ship sailings to Antarctic waters in 2024 including: Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Oceania, and others. These ships carry 1000-2000+ passengers plus crew, although it is correct they do not actually set foot on land. I didn't want to edit the article since I didn't have time to do the research to find out when the policies changed, but it definitely needs updates. Torquer (talk) 20:40, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
