RE:Indi Seasons

No, anyone can close a WP:FLC. The nomination, no matter how much support though, has to stay up for at least 10 days. After ten days if there is at least 4 supports and consensus has been reached, then someone will promote it (Usually User:Scorpion0422). So even though you have enough support, youll have to wait for the 10 day period to pass. If there isnt enough support votes, and there is either active discussion and revision, or there seems to be a consensus to promote but it still needs more support, than the nom is left open until there is consensus or the nom has garnered enough votes (See my nom of Green Bay Packers seasons as an example of a nom that has consensus to promote, yet still needs one more support vote, so the nom is left open until that happens.) Hope that helps. Good work, I like how the list has evolved.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 23:01, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the support, but remember to comment on the content, not the contributor. Just make sure that you are voting on the article and not on the contributor. A lot of people will cry WP:COI if they feel a "Ill scratch your back if you scratch mine" has occurred. But good work on the Indi seasons, Ill be rooting for them (up until they meet the Packers in the Super Bowl of course :P). Keep up the good work and feel free to ask me any questions if you need any help in the future.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 23:23, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Haha Im thinking more Packers 49 Colts 0 in the Super Bowl :P lol, yeah I cant stand the Pats, the Steelers are out, and I like Dungy so Im pulling for the Colts. And yeah I just wanted to warn you cuz ive seen people get all worked up cuz "you supported him, so he supported you." Its stupid but I thought I would make it clear that both lists were evaluated on the merit of the list itself and not the contributors! Jeez this Chargers/Titans game is a lot closer than I thought! ha well have a good day! GoPackers!.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 23:47, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

I guess it looks better now, but I still think it would be better to separate them. It would get red of the conference red links and it would make more sense (at least to me) to have separate ones. I think it would look a lot cleaner and go in line with the other NFL season by team templates. But whatever, just the creation of those two templates confused me lol.03:32, 7 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs)

Ahhhh Sinebot got me haha, what I meant was that we have {{2007 NFL season by team}} and all the other templates for all the seasons leading up to it. Since we already have 38 templates for the NFL, I thought it would make sense to just keep on doing that for each league, since the AFL only went from 60-69, so we would have separate NFL seasons and AFL seasons since for the most part they didnt have anything to do with each other up until the merger. So basically I think we should have {{1969 NFL season by team}} and {{1969 AFL season by team}} since we have separate season articles ((1969 NFL season and 1969 AFL season) and so on for each year that these were two separate leagues.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 03:44, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
I dont understand, what do you mean?
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 04:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I think as long as the team names are linked, it should be fine. Really I dont mind as I can see the point for each side. Whatever looks the best would probably be my choice.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 04:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Haha yeah dont close it yourself, anyone can close, but it is usually frowned upon to close your own noms. I closed the discussion, just give it a while for GimmeBot to place the star in the corner and update the talk page for the featured status (it may take a couple hours or a couple minutes lol). Nice work again.

Re: Template help

I don't know, but Zzyzx11 might. Pats1 T/C 23:20, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Looks like someone forgot to add it in, so I fixed it. Please create the Category:List-Class Indianapolis articles page when you do tag a talk page with it in. I would rather not do it now because I do not know which pages need to be added and someone might tag it with Speedy deletion rule #1 - empty category. Cheers. WP:LOTD

In the last month, you have created a new WP:FL. From what I can tell, this is your first one. Congratulations! You may not be aware of WP:LOTD. We are experimenting with selecting Lists of the Day so similar to the current WP:TFA and WP:POTD features that run on the main page. I invite you to participate.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 21:49, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for making a nomination at WP:LOTD. The system works best with more voters. Please also come by and vote before voting closes on the 20th.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 23:04, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Obama

Barack Obama

There is no need to add more to the infobox when it is already discussed in another section. HoosierState 04:10, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

What other section? There is only one reference that I fond and that related to his father. I have read the history on the issue of Obama's Muslim ties. I am an independent voter and I like Obama a great deal, but the issue of his Muslim childhood ties is just not going to go away. I proposed a balanced approach in the discussion pages a few minutes ago - basically that a matter of fact approach that includes only the Muslim childhood references that he includes in his biography (or those that his close family openly discusses), followed by a paragraph from his biography that speaks to his multi-cultural upbringing. It's just not reasonable for biased supporters to hawkishly sit on every Muslim-related edit and immediately 'undo'. I do not know you well enough to know where you stand...but you did seem to pounce pretty quickly. What's wrong with a clear reference in the Info box that confirms his Adulthood disposition as differentiated from his childhood practices?Jtextor (talk) 04:22, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Saints 1st rd draft picks FLC

You appear to be an active member of the NFL WikiProject. So I'm just letting you know that List of New Orleans Saints first-round draft picks is currently a FLC that still needs support votes in order to pass. If you feel it is a FL could you please show support. Thanks for any help in advance. Buc (talk) 12:47, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I left my comments on the associated talk page. Also, I would suggest that you ignore the above comment about the Saints pick, canvassing for support is really bad, see WP:CANVASS. Good work on the list though!
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 04:24, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Haha dont worry you can always bug me!! Lol, I wouldnt worry much about it, personally I think the site is just fine. It looks like the list is fine and I would only worry about it if someone brings it up. Good work on the list though!

Anchor Info Box

Hey, HoosierState, if you get a chance, and you know how, could you slap together an info box that can go on Anchorpeople/weatherpeople/sportspeople's individual Wiki's? Just name, age, current station, previous jobs, and anything else you can think of. If you can, just slap it on my talk page, or a link to it, or whatever. I don't have a ton of free time any more with a new baby, so I'd REALLY appreciate it.  :) Also, if you know how to make categories (and/or search existing categories) and can tell me how to make them so I can throw all these anchor stubs into categories to organize them as I go along that would be fabulous. If you can't do any of it, then no problems on that, too.  :)

BTW, did you steal the archive box idea from me, or was it just a coincidence? :D

-- JTHolla! 01:58, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Awesome. Thanks for looking around for me. Sorry I couldn't stick around. I was already gone even by the time you posted! Can you tell me how to make categories? I'm wanting to make ones for weather people and reporters for Indy as well. Oh, and radio personalities, too. "Teach a man to fish..." and all that.  :) -- JTHolla! 08:30, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah it was a good game. I cannot wait for next year cuz I think we have some great talent. Such is life though :( And yeah the whole Colts/Packers didnt pan out like we hoped, lol, maybe next year!

Republican Table of candidates

The AK additons stopped for a while when I changed from a 4 wide table to a 3 wide table last week. I knew they'd be back as soon as whitespace appeared. As soon as the race drops to 4 (Feb 6th?) I change the table to a 2 by 2.--mitrebox (talk) 02:43, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

RE:Indianapolis Colts - Controversy

Sorry about the edits, but with the research I have done on the issue, I feel the other editor is deliberately trying to muddy the waters in that sub-section. For instance, he claims that the sound this whole thing is about was heard on the radio calls, which simply is not the case from reviewing the radio pbp from both the Pats and Colts radio networks. I do admit my guilt in the situation, but I do feel that the other gentlemen is getting off the hook with, at the least, muddying the facts, at worst, vandalism. Hoosier, don't sweat it. We can work with Bedford ourselves to get all the main stuff out of the way, anyway. It will be better to keep it in house when it's featured, anyway.  :) -- JTHolla! 00:25, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
"It will be better to keep it in house when it's featured, anyway.  :)" Attitudes like that are why I'm really not interested in being a part of this activity. RichardF (talk) 21:20, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Template:Indianapolissports

Thanks for your great work with Indiana everything, but don't you think Template:Indianapolissports is redundant to Template:Indiana Sports? They're different now, but I think they could be easily merged. Cheers, Reywas92Talk 01:52, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Young man, my name is Ed Coleman and I have been changing your list. Your list is inaccurate. If you go to the official council site through the Indianpolis web page, you will see that the At-Large councillors are always listed first and in alphabetical order. I would like to think that I know enough about a position that I hold that I can alter this page with to be accurate. If you doubt it you are more than welcome to contact me through the City-Council office to discuss it. I have corrected the page again. Please leave it alone this time as it is in the proper order now.Ecoleman56 (talk) 03:14, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't care about other cities. Indianapolis lists the At-Large first. I would appreciate that you respect that. That or we will be changing it on a daily basis.Ecoleman56 (talk) 12:05, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate your groups interest in creating correct documentation for Indianapolis. I have no problem with it and think you have done an excellent job. I don't have a problem with any of the content. Indianapolis does however always post at-large councillors first on the lists. If you are looking for accuracy that is the proper way. I only ask that you post it the same way that the city does out of respect for the way the city does things. This is not a ridiculous request. It is not like I am asking you to change any content or the entire page.Ecoleman56 (talk) 22:15, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

You say you recognize the fact that Indianapolis does it different. So because you want it different that makes you right? That is just insane. If you want accuracy you don't enforce your personal views.Ecoleman56 (talk) 22:42, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
FYI, I did a bit of research about Wikipedia. Are you aware that you are in violation of the 3RR. I have just as much right to edit the page as you do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ecoleman56 (talkcontribs) 22:51, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Edwards ended vs. suspended?

Not that I'm disagreeing with your edit on the Dem primary delegate template, but do you have a source saying that Edwards actually ended his campaign versus suspending his campaign? There were some sources immediately after his New Orleans speech that said he ended his campaign everything that I've seen has Edwards only suspending his campaign. While there isn't a major difference between the two (he isn't campaigning), there is a difference in what happens to his delegates. If he ended his campaign, his delegates are released, but if he just suspends his campaign, then he retains control of his delegates. --Bobblehead (rants) 22:37, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't think the news organization properly understood the difference between "ended" and "suspended" when Edwards made his New Orleans speech. It wasn't until after most had posted their articles that they figured out that there is a difference between the two. Since the initial articles, most news organizations seem to have caught on to the difference. Not that this source is the definitive source, or even a reasonable approximation of a definitive source, but if you scroll down this list of questions, the one about Romney's and Edwards's delegates answers the question about their status fairly well. --Bobblehead (rants) 22:51, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Demographics

Re: this edit. It's not a question of references. Such an uncontroversial statement doesn't need sourcing, and it would be trivial to find sources if they were required. The real objection to the addition is that the mere existence of such small communities is not notable. The rest of the paragraph is about national headquarters of religions or denominations, or colleges and seminaries that are in some way especially notable. (There's a yeshivah in South Bend, and maybe sometime soon I'll find out more about it and consider whether it's notable enough to be included here, or even to get its own article.) -- Zsero (talk) 20:43, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Vote to overturn previous consensus on rows

Thanks for your past comments and contributions at Results of the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries. Right now there is a significant vote taking place at Talk:Results of the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries#Vote to overturn previous consensus on rows about whether or not to overturn a previous consensus that each row in the Overview of results table should represent individual nominating events. The vote ends at the close of March 19, 2008 (UTC). The vote contains the negative-option that if there is a tie or fewer than 4 total signatures the previous consensus will prevail. Swing states

  • I'd love for Indiana to be a swing state too (I'm a California Democrat), but it just ain't happening. Sorry.

I changed Wisconsin into a Democratic state, but left Oregon just because of how close it was in 2000 and 2004, even though it'll almost surely go Democratic in 2008 because of the GOP's disregard for states' rights.

However, we should look into North Carolina. I don't think it's close enough to be considered a "swing state" in a three category map, but it's certainly worth researching. SteveSims (talk) 09:03, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Famous Hoosiers

Re: the recent additions by User:137.242.1.50, which you reverted. It's true that the list is too long already and needs trimming, not adding to, but it's not true, as you wrote, that most of these people were not from Indiana. With only one exception (Levi P. Morton) they were all prominent Indianans, and surely more important than some already on the list. I mean surely the fact that Indiana has produced so many Vice Presidents of the United States of America is more notable than the fact that it's produced so many sportsmen. So I don't know what to do about it, but I don't think simply reverting is the right thing. What needs to happen is a serious sorting and weighting of the list, and let's keep, say, the most notable 25 Hoosiers of all time. That will need a lot of judgment. -- Zsero (talk) 23:09, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

All NBA head coach templates are being merged to the franchise's template, i.e. {{IndianaPacersCoach}}{{Indiana Pacers}}. Also, take a look at the templates at Category:National Basketball Association teams navigational boxes and you'll see that the other franchise templates have the head coaches in them, so why should we have another one?
