His son, Landon Bathe, followed in his foot steps to the NHL only to encounter a similar career-ending injury. Frank Bathe is a former Philadelphia Flyer's defensemen. He's the son of Allen Bathe, who signed as a free agent with the Canadian Maple Leafs. Sporting a full beard and a head of shaggy red hair made him a true standout on the ice. He was known as a fighter and a funny guy. He won the Barry Ashbee Trophy for best defenseman in 1982. A back injury ended Frank's NHL career in 1984.
