==Remarkable world-wide circulation==
The 1990 edition of the ''[[Guinness Book of Records]]'' included this book under its heading "Highest Printings". According to the ''Guinness Book'', by May 1987 the ''Truth'' book had reached 106,486,735 copies, in 116 languages.<ref>''[[Awake!]]'' October 8, 1990, p. 28.</ref> By 1997, it had a circulation of 107,000,000 in 117 languages.<ref name=wj1597>''[[The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom|The Watchtower]]'' January 15, 1997, p. 25.</ref>

==Purpose==
From 1946 to 1968, Jehovah's Witnesses were using the book ''"Let God Be True"'' in their free home Bible courses, being published in approximately 19,250,000 copies in 54 languages.<ref name=wj1597 /> This manual was replaced later by the ''Truth'' book, which had this comment at the second page: "Dedicated to God who is kind to anyone who seeks his true giver of life."

The book was designed to involve Bible students to apply what they were learning. In the first three years of its circulation more than 400,000 people studied the book and were eventually baptized.<ref>''Jehovah’s Witnesses—Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom'' p. 105.</ref>

The 192-page book has 22 chapters on topics such as "Why It Is Wise to Examine Your Religion" and "How to Identify the True Religion". The book ''Truth'' was intended to encourage students of the Bible to reason on the material considered and to apply it in their own lives.

In 1982, the book ''You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth'' became the main publication used by Jehovah's Witnesses to lead Bible studies. This was later replaced by the book ''Knowledge That Leads to Everlasting Life'' and more recently by the book ''[[What Does the Bible Really Teach?]]''.
