John Lyon (1951–2009) was a first-class cricketer who played for Lancashire between1973 and 1979.

He played 84 first class matches for his native Lancashire between 1973 and 1979, replacing [[Farokh Engineer]] as the first choice keeper for his final three seasons.  He claimed 159 catches and completed 12 stumpings and, though a poor batsman by modern wicket keeping standards, scored a first class century against Warwickshire in 1979.  He also played in 81 List A one day games, taking 66 catches and making 11 stumpings.  After retiring from first class cricket, he became involved in Irish cricket, playing at Bangor and coaching at Clontarf, before emigrating to South Africa where he ran a bar and continued coaching.
