Maurits "Maus" Gatsonides (born February 14, 1911 - Died November 29, 1998) was a Dutch rally driver and inventor.
Maus Gatsonides was born in Gombong on the island Java in the former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia).
Today, Gatsonides' fame largely results from inventing the Gatsometer ("Gatso"), a speed measuring device used today by many police forces around the world to reliably catch drivers who are speeding. He originally invented the Gatso speed camera to measure his cornering speed in an attempt to improve his driving.
He founded the company "Gatsometer BV" in 1958.
Car production
As a car enthusiast, Gatsonides started production of his own car design the Gatsonides Gatso in 1946. Over a 5 year period only 8 cars were ever produced.
Motor Racing
Gatsonides won the Monte Carlo rally in 1953 driving a Ford Zephyr.
