The Common Blanket Octopus, Tremoctopus violaceus, is a large octopus of the family Tremoctopodidae found world-wide in warm seas. It is up to 6 ft in length.
The Common Blanket Octopus is greyish to purplish, with four of its arms joined with an umbrella-like web. It has a vestigial internal shell remnant but no secondary shell is present.
