Thiessen has said that he wrote it because a female friend turned from [[Christian]] music to Marilyn Manson, and in that way, Marilyn Manson ate his friend. The [[music video]] for the song was the very first one released by the band. In it, the guys of Relient K must rescue "The Girlfriend" from inside of Marilyn Manson. This includes searching all of his organs, which are all behind doors inside a creepy hall. In the end, they rescue her after Matt Thiessen defeats Marilyn Manson in a game of [[Rock, Paper, Scissors]]. This is their least-known video, and some fans do not even know that they made one for this song. The scenes in the video also feature the band playing the song in a bright green room. This was the only music video by the band to feature [[drummer]] Stephen Cushman, and the only one not to feature the band's current drummer, [[Dave Douglas (drummer)|Dave Douglas]].
