JD Shapiro grew up in North New Jersey and New York City's Hell's Kitchen. He is one of four children, having three sisters, Karen, Nancy and Pam. JD is an accomplished and award winning screenwriter and director. In 2003, JD became a stand-up comedian. He is working on his first book. It's for women who are looking to get a man and keep him.

JD Shapiro was conceived in a cheap yet clean motel somewhere in New Jersey. He remembers that night well. He had to swim like the dickens. Although exhausted, he won the race and enjoyed nine months of fantastic womb service. Then he was evicted without warning or notice.

JD grew up in North NJ and NYC's Hell's Kitchen along with his three sisters who wouldn’t let him go outside until they inspected the way he was dressed because he had no fashion taste what–so-ever.

After college JD moved to LA and wrote the spec script, “Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He sold it to Brooksfilms & Twentieth Century Fox, because Mel Brooks liked men in tights and FOX wasn’t judgmental. He was heavily involved in all decisions, from locations to casting, and is proud to say he convinced Mel to cast Carey Elwes as Robin Hood, and the then unknown Dave Chappelle as Achew. From JD's concept to Fox's release was little over a year.
