The Oath is a fictional short film taking place in 1950's Kenya during the Mau Mau uprising under the British colonialism. It portrays the struggle between two brothers on opposite sides fo the conflict. Many of the actors in the film were descents of Mau Mau Fighters. It was produced with their input, as an educational tool at a time when Mau Mau was less appreciated in Kenya society, than it is today. It received a lot of critiques for its balanced and positive portrayal of the Mau Mau and their struggle for independence from the British. THE OATH was written and directed by Nathan Collett. It was produced by Hot Sun Films.
