*I'm not sure what Alison was looking at when she said this was extensive...most of the accounts and IPs are stale; I can only find {{user|Samneric}} and {{user|Vickiemc}} as new/undiscovered accounts, everything else seems to be blocked. Let's close this and then if Alison has more she can reopen it. [[User talk:Thatcher|Thatcher]] 23:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Revision as of 23:11, 12 March 2008

  • Supporting evidence: Today I blocked an account User:Jon Hobynx as an obvious sock of the account named above, after he removed sockpuppet tags from other accounts named in this CU, which had been previously blocked as socks of this user. This had also happened in September 2007, when the sockmaster was eventually blocked indefinitely, and January 2008, when User:TaskBOT removed them. Today's sock also attacked another user on WP:ANI in an ongoing dispute referring to a current RfAR, which suggests that other accounts may still be active. Requesting this CU on those accounts in order to uncover any sleeper socks that may still be lingering. Black Kite 14:59, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are others, however many are stale; I'll list them here for what it's worth (and will add more as I track them down).

The primary concern with this sockmaster is his preference with messing with biographies, mostly those of academics. There are a number of articles that really need to be reviewed for hoaxes and/or slander; Martin Banwell, Edward J. Steele, Peter L. Hurd (User:Pete.Hurd), Chris Conley, Chris Shiflett and anything else this character has touched. Is there a BLP review team? Cheers, Jack Merridew 08:52, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

a few more IPs to look at;
