Breakfast with Amy |
---|
Breakfast with Amy were a Christian alternative rock band that formed in 1988 in Santa Margarita, California. The band consisted of main
vocalist David Koval, bassist Edwin Wohler, guitarists Christopher and Caryn Colbert, and drummer Paul Pelligrin.
After releasing an independent demo and, later, a professionally recorded demo, Breakfast with Amy signed to Narrowpath Records in 1990 and recorded their first studio album Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt. After a limited release that saw all copies of the album sold out after concerts, the band signed with Blonde Vinyl Records in 1991[1]. With a new label that could better represent the band's progressive music and image, Breakfast with Amy quickly moved to the forefront of the underground Christian rock scene that had been taking shape in Southern California since the early 80's[2]. During the short lifespan of Blonde Vinyl, Breakfast with Amy released 2 studio albums. After the collapse of Blonde Vinyl Records in 1993, the band released their final album, Live At The Hawleywood Bowl!, under Flying Tart records in 1995. The band never found a mainstream audience and, after 5 years of recording music and touring that never made them any real money, disbanded soon after their last album was released.
In 1995, Gray Dot records re-released their first album with completely re-mastered tracks and three bonus demo tracks added. Today, Breakfast with Amy is remembered by fans of the fledgling alternative Christian rock scene as one of the staples of Blonde Vinyl Records, being present on nearly all of their compilation CDs (as well as other alternative Christian rock compilations) and being one of only a few artists on the label to make a music video[3].
