Karl Kroeber

Karl Kroeber b. 1926, is a literary scholar, perhaps known best as a writer on American Indian literature. He is the son of the anthropologist Alfred L. Kroeber and Theodora Kroeber Quinn. His most recent book is an account of his father's famous work with Ishi, Ishi in Three Centuries

He is professor of English and comparative literature at Columbia University. His many books on literary criticism and its relation to ecology, traditional literature, and art history, are widely held in many hundreds of academic libraries.

He is also a brother of the science-fiction writer Ursula K. LeGuin and father of the linguist Paul Kroeber and the economist Arthur Kroeber.
