The Rose Palace is located at 835 South Raymond Avenue in the city of Pasadena, California and was built by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association in 1964.

Also known as The Pasadena Rose Palace

The primary use of The Rose Palace has always been for the construction of floats for the Tournament of Roses Parade which is held every New Year’s Day in the city of Pasadena. Float construction primarily takes place from October through the end of December of each year. The Rose Palace was one of three “float barns” built for float construction in the mid-1900’s.

In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, from January to September, The Rose Palace was used for other functions besides float construction. One of those functions was that of a rock concert venue. It was during this time that the facility came to be known as The Pasadena Rose Palace, a Los Angeles Rock Ballroom. 1960’s rock bands and musicians, now recognized as legendary, such as Led Zeppelin, The Byrds, The Grateful Dead, and Joe Cocker, just to name a few, played at The Pasadena Rose Palace.

The Rose Palace still stands today and looks very much as it did back in the day. It is still used for the construction of floats for the Tournament of Roses Parade. The Rose Palace is currently occupied by The Phoenix Decorating Company and is one of the main float construction companies for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.
