The 2008 Monaco Grand Prix is a Formula One motor race and the sixth round of the 2008 Formula One season. It will take place from 22–25 May at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo. The race itself will commence at 14:00 CEST (noon UTC), Sunday, May 25. Fernando Alonso won the 2007 race in a McLaren.

World Champion Kimi Räikkönen leads the Championship by 7 points from Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa and McLaren's Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari lead the Constructors Championship by 19 points from BMW Sauber, but haven't won the Monaco Grand Prix since 2001 when Michael Schumacher led a one-two.

It is the 200th race of Giancarlo Fisichella's F1 career, having driven for Minardi, Sauber, Jordan, Renault and its predecessor Benetton. He will drive in Monaco for Force India.

The current weather forecast for the weekend is rain. If so it will be the first wet Grand Prix of the 2008 season.

Qualifying

Sebastian Vettel will carry a five place grid penalty for fitting its new gearbox with the debut of the new STR3.[1]

Unlike the usual schedule for race-weekends, the 2008 Monaco Grand Prix will hold a Thursday Practice. Because of which, there will not be a Friday Practice for this select race.
