al-Qubaysiat is a pseudo-Sufi Islamic group that was established by a female preacher, Munira al-Qubaysi in Syria, then it was spread out to many other countries. The group is for women only and does not involve in politics. It did organise religious lessons in homes and it has been instrumental in spreading religious sentiment among young women. It was banned in Syria until recently in 2006, the government has given a green light to this long-established movement to teach religion in mosques.
