Nikki Hornsby was born in [[Long Beach, California]], but grew up in Northern Virginia. Starting in high school she played paying gigs in the eastern US & worked as well in this field while attending Scared Heart & Belmont college in NC as well as the George Mason University in VA as a Psychology & Theology Major.

She moved back to California in the mid 1970s playing regularly full-time, but did not begin to record until the late 1980s when she finally accepted one of many financial investors offers to record. She first marketed her songs throughout Europe on commercial radio stations obtaining a number one song titled "One Way Ticket" in [[Mallorca]], Spain noted in the ACM newsletter as well as other print publications in August 1988 (page 4 ACM Newsletter). Around that time she also was getting Northern European airplay as well for three other commercial releases. In the 90's, a song of hers entitled "Shoe String and a Prayer" obtained radio airplay in USA while her previous released songs continued to play in Europe; "Shoestring & A Prayer" hit the independent & major (Cashbox Top 100 #78 1989) country charts in America and in other radio reporting trade publications for example: #1 for the entire month of August on THE MUSIC REVIEW TOP 30 INDEPENDENT CHART, NY., #3 on the TOP 30 (IRC) DEBUT INDEPENDENT RADIO CHART, NASHVILLE, TN,#11 on the CASH BOX INDEPENDENT CHART and a #14 INDIE BULLET MAG.
