Pond Hockey is a 2008 American documentary film directed by Tommy Haines. The film is a fresh and gritty examination of the changing culture of pond hockey.
Plot Synopsis
Director Tommy Haines and his Minnesota crew chronicle the changing culture of hockey. Through interviews from Wayne Gretzky, Neal Broten, and Sidney Crosby to local rinkrats, the film examines the true meaning of sport.
Interwoven with the memories and lessons of the pond lifestyle is the story of the first ever U.S. Pond Hockey Championships, a tournament created to recapture the purity and energy of outdoor play. The 600 participants represent a wide array of talent, but each embodies the youthful spirit native to the pond. 100 teams came together for the most competitive outdoor tournament ever — the film follows two of these teams.
