Solariella variabilis is a minute deepwater sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Trochidae.

Distribution

This species is endemic to the Chatham Rise, between New Zealand and the Chatham Islands.

Habitat

This deepwater top shell lives at depths of between 280 and 370 m.

Shell description

The shell differs from Solariella textilis in having a larger protoconch, and much sparser axials and spirals on the post-nuclear whorls.

The shell height is up to 2.4 mm, and the width is up to 2.8 mm.
