Balasegaram Kandiah (November 27, 1965 – May 20, 2008), known by his nom de guerre Balraj or Brigadier Balraj,[1] was the senior commander of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. He died on May 20, 2008 due to a heart attack. Brigadier Balraj was the first commander of the LTTE's conventional fighting formation Charles Anthony Brigade and he served as a key commander in LTTE's major operations, including Second Battle of Elephant Pass in year 2000.[2]
