Limbo

In Catholic theology a place where the unbaptised who die in infancy go after death. The justification given for Limbo by its proponents is that the unbaptised are not eligible for entry into heaven, and thus enjoying the beatific vision of God; but infants being innocent of any wrong cannot go to hell, thus they go to another place where they enjoy all natural goods, but lack the supernatural goods of heaven.

While many eminent Catholic theologians have defended Limbo, it is not an official doctrine of the Roman Catholic church; therefore individual Catholics are free to believe or reject it.
