Name of several politicial parties in various countries allied to labour/trade union interests: e.g. [[British Labour Party]], [[Australian Labor Party]].
One of the two main political parties of Britain.



It came into power after the Second World War and started building up a "cradle to grave" welfare state. Throughout the rest of the twentieth century Labour governments alternated with [[Tory Party]] governments.



Under [[Tony Blair]] Labour has moved more to the center and away from its socialist origins.
