Jon A. Husted (born August 25, 1967) is a member of the Ohio Senate.

Early Life

Husted was raised in Montpelier, Ohio with his sister. They were adopted.[1]

Husted was a four sport athlete in high school. He played cornerback for the University of Dayton football team. He earned All-American Defensive Back honors as a member of the 1989 Division III National Championship football team.[1]

Political career

Husted almost took a job coaching football at University of Toledo, but instead chose to work for a congressional campaign.[1] He then stayed in the Dayton area and worked for the Montgomery County Commissioners and later as Vice-President of Business and Economic Development at the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. He ran for state representative in 2000. In the Ohio House, Husted teamed up with fellow State Representatives Kevin DeWine and Tom Raga to win the speakership.[1]

Future

Husted may run for Ohio Secretary of State in 2010 against Democrat Jennifer Brunner.[2]

Controversy

Husted admits spending most of his time in his Upper Arlington residence, outside of his district, as opposed to his home in Ketterling.[3]

Family

In 2006 Husted married his wife Tina, a Columbus real estate agent. The couple have a toddler daughter, Katie, along with his 13-year-old son, Alex, from his first marriage.
