This led to David Vandervelde and Jay Bennett developing a strong friendship and working relationship. Eventually David was invited to move to Chicago and assist Jay with recording bands as well as help on Jay's solo records. David Vandervelde Moved to Pieholden Studios in Chicago during early 2004.

At this time David Vandervlede appears on Jay Bennett's records "Bigger than Blue" and "the Magnificent Defeat". David Vandervelde also recorded "Prayer of Death" by Entrance at Pieholden.
