In addition, Semko's voice can be heard as the narrator for a number of documentaries and television and radio commercials, and has been involved in many other projects, including writing the music for a permanent installation at Saskatchewan's Western Development Museum.

In February 2009 Jay performed at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, Tennessee and in March 2009 he performed at the South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas. Jay was recently chosen as a finalist in the Gospel/Inspirational category in the worldwide songwriting competition John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his song "Jesus Is Gonna Help Me". He continues to perform occasionally with the Northern Pikes, and is currently recording his 4th solo album.
