Kavos (Greek: Κάβος) is a former wide awake fishing village turned clubbers' paradise in the 1990s (during the rave scene) on the island of Corfu in Greece, it is part of the municipal district and the municipality of Lefkimmi. The main part of Kavos is the long strip which runs parallel to the coast line. All the bars, clubs, restaurants, shops, hotels and apartments are on this strip or near to it.

Geography

There is a five-mile long beach extending alongside the town. From the beach, it is possible to see the Greek mainland. A sprawling town on the southern tip of Corfu, Kavos is the most action-packed of the island's resorts and is very popular with British. The beaches offer lovely views over to the Greek mainland, lots of watersport activities. Those looking for a less hectic holiday, but still within reach of the nightlife should stay in Kavos. There are a wide choice of cafes, restaurants and fast food joints, but most offer a similar menu catering for the unadventurous British palate. The sea around Kavos is warm and shallow and ideal for swimming and watersports, which can be arranged from the beach. Popular excursions include a visit to the nearby aqua park, whisky museum, ferret colonies and boat trips around the scenic coast. Those with a taste for culture should make the trip to the island's historic capital, Corfu Town, which is packed with interesting archaeological sights. Also, the interior of Corfu is worth exploring for those looking for some tranquillity; it remains very unspoilt and uncrowded even during the peak season. Families would do better to stay well clear of the main strip. Kavos is very popular between June and September, appearing in holiday brochures of Club 18-30 and 2wentys.
