Alan Sontag (born in New York in 1946) is a contract-bridge player. He won the Vanderbilt Trophy a number of times. In his first international competition, he won the prestigious London Sunday Times doubles invitational tournament with fellow American Steve Altman in 1973. This victory was the first time an American had won this tournament, the leading invitational of the era. He authored The Bridge Bum (1977, William Morrow) and Power Precision (1979, William Morrow). He is an inductee into the ACBL Hall of Fame.
