Founded in 1899, Sonoco Products Company (NYSE: SON) is a $4.1 billion global manufacturer of industrial and consumer products and provider of packaging services to customers in 85 nations. From its headquarters in Hartsville, S.C., and about 300 manufacturing and sales locations in 35 countries, its approximately 17,500 employees produce packaging for a variety of industries and for many of the world's most recognized brands. Sonoco is the world's largest producer of composite cans and tubes and cores, and a leader in rigid paperboard containers. Named one of 2009's 100 Best Corporate Citizens by Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO) magazine, Sonoco is 542 on the 2009 Fortune 1000 list.
