Roberto Flores, better known by his stage name Lil' Rob, is a Mexican record producer and rapper artist who is making his dreams come true
Biography
Roberto Flores was born in September, 1975, in San Diego, CA. He is the youngest of three children.[2] Lil rob was from a Solana Beach, California sureno gang called La Colonia Eden Gardens 13. He affiliates with Surenos and was a Sureno Rapper but later let go his gang affiliation and now is a CHICANO RAPPER. Lil Rob loves Oldies and it is apparent in his music when he remixes oldie jams with his own music. It is a unique style that was later mimicked by several other Chicano rappers. Oldies is a very popular jam in the Southern California Chicano culture. Lil Rob also refers to himself as the one and only "Oldie Man". Such songs that are mixed with oldie jams are; Natural High, I Remember, Linda Mujer, No Soy de Ti, Brought Up In A Small Neighborhood, ect...Lil Rob debuted as an Artist in 1997, selling as many as 200,000 units for each independent CD he recorded.Lil Rob has done many songs with different artist such as Mr Shadow, Mr Sancho, OG Spanish Fly, and has also made a song called "My Lowrider" which included artist such as Paul Wall, The Game & E-40.:[1] The number Twelve Eighteen, which is tattooed on Lil Rob's arms, represent the numeric value of the letters L and R, respectively, in which are Lil Rob's initials. The number was used by Lil Rob during his days as a graffiti tagger.[1] In 1994 at the age of 18, Lil Rob's chin was shattered when he was shot on the jaw. Roberto witnessed a few criminal acts, dropped out and quit his gang affiliation. Since then he has strictly been representing "Brown Pride".[3]
In 2002, Rob was signed to Upstairs Records after having been recording under numerous independent labels beforehand, including Familia and Low Profile Records; Lil Rob would stay with the label in later years. In 2005, he found commercial success with the release of Twelve Eighteen, Pt. 1, which had been in regular rotation on radio stations outside of the West Coast due to the singles "Summer Nights", and "Bring Out The Freak In You". Currently, Lil Rob's newest singles are "Slow It Down" that featured Frankie J, "Cortez Shoes", And "Let Me Come Back" that featured Fingazz. His recent album, Twelve Eighteen, Pt. 2 was released October 21, 2008. Lil Rob also had a song on the mixtape Top Doggs. On June 29, 2007, Lil Rob made his very first appearance overseas in Okinawa, Japan.[4]
