Jane Derby (born Jeannette Barr, 1895August 9 1965) was an American fashion designer from 1930s to 1965 and was a top of the line ready-to-wear designer.

Derby opened her business in New York in 1936 and her own label Jane Derby Inc. in 1938 which was for mature women. In early 1950s John Moore worked for her. Oscar de la Renta started in 1965 with Derby and when Derby died in August Oscar de la Renta took it over. He first used label Oscar de la Renta for Jane Derby but in 1966 he changed it in his name. In 1974 he took control of the whole business[1][2]
