Blake Adams (born August 27, 1975) is an American professional golfer currently playing on the Nationwide Tour.
Adams was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, but only lived there for six months. His family moved to Dalton, Georgia were he lived until he was sixteen years old. Afer his mother re-married, he then moved to Eatonton, Georgia and graduated from high school before attending the University of Georgia. He spent three years at UGA before transferring to Georgia Southern University and earned a degree in 2001 for Sociology. He turned professional later that year. He currently lives in a small south Georgia town with a population of less than 200 people. The nearest golf course is 45 miles from his house so he often practices hitting balls off a dirt road behind his house.
After turning professional, Adams bounced around on the mini-tours from 2001 to 2007, until he joined the Nationwide Tour. Injuries have plagued Adams throughout his career. In his first full Nationwide Tour season in 2007, Adams made only 5 of 16 cuts and earned only a little over $20,000 for the season.
In 2008, he made 7 of 11 cuts, playing a limited schedule, had one top 10, earned almost $65,000, and obtained his full time Nationwide Tour card for 2009.
Adams had a breakout year in 2009, where he had seven top 10s between between May and August, including a career high finish of solo second place in Canada at the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic. He also led after the first three rounds of the Albertsons Boise Open[1] in September, before eventually finishing solo second. Adams earned almost $400,000 and finished 3rd on the money list. He shattered the record book on the Nationwide Tour for most money earned in a single season without a victory. His earnings for the 2009 season secured him a PGA Tour card for the 2010 season.
