Indiggo is stage/group name used by identical twin sisters Gabriela and Mihaela Modorcea. They were born in Romania on June 7, which is under the astrological sign Gemini, represented by twins. They are also known as Dracula's Girls. The roots of their family are in Transylvania.[1] They have an older brother, Vlad, game producer, whose name was given after Vlad Tepes' (Dracula).[2] Their father is a very prolific writer and TV producer; he has a Ph.D. in Arts.[3] Their mother, who has a Ph.D. in philology, is a teacher of world literature.[4]

America's Got Talent

The identical twin sisters Mihaela and Gabriela Modorcea are Indiggo, professional singers/actresses/writers. The Indiggo Twins graduated acting with the best degree from the National University of Theatre and Cinematographic Arts - UNATC [5] Following which they attended acting courses in Cologne, Germany, and New York (with the acclaimed American actor Paul Sorvino). They started performing, and were featured in the European media and press at the age of 12. Sony BMG Germany wrote about Indiggo Twins: "Germany is proud when the twins Mihaela and Gabriela are in the country. There is no wonder! The 22 year-old twin sisters named Indiggo do not only look like international models, but they are also plentifully blessed with musical talent." [6] The German pop-titan Dieter Bohlen stated in the most popular European newspaper BILD: “The Indiggo twins have got sensational voices and a double strong will to succeed. I have seen lots of young artists in the music-biz, but not even 3% have got their enthusiasm. Show me other twins as gorgeous as them”.[7] The twins are now permanent residents of the US; they live in New York City, where they are working on their next album and hope that making it to the Top 40 of "America's Got Talent" will help them achieve their dream.[8][9]

The Twins Indiggo did qualify for the semi-finals on America's Got Talent in 2008. They are among the more memorable performers as evidenced by their prominent showing in reference to the 2008 season.[10][11]

Other national television and movie appearances

Gabriela guest starred in the television series "Law And Order: Special Victims Unit" in the "Hothouse" episode which first aired on NBC on January 13, 2009.[12][13]

Gabriela also appears in the 2006 movie, "Van Wilder II: The Rise of Taj". Her role is that of Taj's sister.[14]

Mihaela and Gabriela played together in the 2009 Russian/American film "No Love In The City".[15]

The Indiggo Twins are mentioned by the character "Bruno" in the 2009 movie of the same name.[16]

Writings by and about Indiggo

Mihaela authored a book of poetry entitled "Rage and Love" in 2006. The 244 page book contains 64 poems.

Grid Modorcea, who is Gabriela and Mihaela's father, authored and published a book entitled "Indiggo Twins" which tells their life story from his perspective as a writer, film maker, and impartial critic. The book also includes an English language translation of "Rage and Love" in its entirety.[17]
