Dutch Uncles

Dutch Uncles are an indie band from Manchester. They're well-known for their use of atypical time signatures within a pop context. Their influences includes several bands such as The Smiths, King Crimson, XTC and Talking Heads.

Biography

Originally from Marple the band formed in 2004 and were previously known as The Headlines [citation needed]. Due to their performing and recording over the years they benefit from a strong local fan base as is evident at their Manchester gigs.

In June 2008 the Band were signed to Tapete Records, a German label. They recorded the majority of their debut album at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg in August and enjoyed a successful tour of Germany.

The album launch was held at The Deaf Institute (Trof) in Manchester on 16 March 2009 although the album was released early February.

The launch was promoted by local night Bring on the Dancing Horses. Additionally Dutch Uncles continue to be associated with local Manchester bands and promoters including In The City, Now Wave, The Answering Machine, MAY68, Keys Money Lipstick, Mike Joyce, Same Teens, last.fm and MEN.

The band toured with Dananananaykroyd during March and April.

Recent local gigs have included support for Maximo Park, Tubelord, Bombay Bicycle Club, Danananakroyd, They continue to gig frequently and new material very much contains the potential for a second album.

The Dutch Uncles have been voted the best band ever in the d skiz poll of revolutionary excellence in the fine arts
