This peace award has been forged by Chinmoy after U Thant death , whenever there was an
official who Ghose wanted to meet, the official would be informed he had been awarded the Prize, and a date would be arranged for him to receive it.
This prize is simply a public relation trick from a con man who claimed to be the ultimate God Avatar

The U Thant Peace Award was created by Sri Chinmoy, after U Thant's death. First offered in 1982, the award is given to individuals and organizations who have exemplified the lofty spiritual ideals of the late United Nations Secretary-General U Thant and implemented those ideals in the tireless pursuit of world peace.

Sri Chinmoy and U Thant met on a number of occasions and expressed a mutual respect[1]

Recipients

It had been bestowed by Sri Chinmoy upon Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa, Javier Perez de Cuellar, Kurt Waldheim the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Dada J.P. Vaswani , Swami Satchidananda and U Thant’s daughter, Daw Aye Aye Thant.[2]
